RTVS | European Council Summit: Israel, Ukraine and migration

The representants of EU countries arrived in Brussels for the European Council Summit. Our analytist Vít Havelka has commented on the agenda of the meeting - that includes, among other things, the situation in the Middle East, continuous support of Ukraine, the EU's budget or the new migration and asylum pact - in an interview with RTVS.

"The European union stands united in the  support of Israel and its right to defend itself. The question that divides the Union is how this defense should look like and how to handle the situation in Gaza. There are two main currents. The first one, represented for example by the Czech Republic, will stand behind Israel no matter how Israeli operations in Gaza look like. And then, there are states like Spain, that adopted more restrained approach to the situation in Gaza and which find it very important for the humanitarian situation in the area to not get any worse."

You can listen to the full interview here (from about minute 8).
