Letošní volby do Evropského parlamentu vedly k debatám o pokračování evropského plánu snižování emisí skleníkových plynů na čistou nulu do roku 2050, a to navzdory událostem posledních let, které naznačují potřebu přehodnotit tento plán. Výsledky voleb neznamenaly pro evropské zelené ambice takovou ztrátu, jakou se očekávalo. Priorita klima a životní prostředí již není pro většinu Evropanů na tak vysoké úrovni jako před pěti lety, což odráží aktuální politické a mezinárodní výzvy, jako je bezpečnost, ekonomická prosperita a konkurenceschopnost evropského průmyslu.
