INVITATION: Education and democracy

Festival of Democracy, Václav Havel Library and EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy would like to cordially invite you to the discussion about Czech education and democracy. The event takes place on Tuesday, October 15th.

The discussion starts at 4 PM in the Václav Havel Library (Ostrovní 29/3, Nové Město, Praha 110 00) and ends at approximately 5:30 PM.

The panel will aim to empirically assess the current state of education in the Czech Republic, trying to uncover whether Czech education system is in the right condition to answer the demands of democracy. 

Are schools teaching citizens how to be active members of democratic society?

What values can we expect to be communicated to the pupils, under current circumstances in Czech education? What values should be communicated?

Are schools enabling citizens to be critical in the realm of politics?

What could be done for Czech education to produce “better citizens”?

Are the schools equipping citizens with the right skills for the labour market?

The discussion will be moderated by Milan Urbaník from EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, it will be in Czech language and the event is also available on Facebook
