National Convention on the EU: EU relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood
Our researchers Jana Juzová and Katharine Klačanský have written a background paper on EU relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood countries, in which they answer three specific questions. Should the EU continue to approach the Eastern Partnership group as a whole, or should it diversify its approach more? Should the EU develop a specific green strategy for the Eastern Neighbourhood countries and, if so, on what principles? How can the EU counter the influence of other powers (Russia, China, possibly Turkey) working against EU interests in the Eastern Neighbourhood?

INVITATION: Café Evropa online: Rising energy prices - how to deal with them in the Czech Republic and what can the EU do?
Energy prices have been skyrocketing across Europe and the world in recent weeks. In Europe, for example, the price of natural gas has briefly risen by more than 800 per cent. Natural gas is used in many countries for home heating and also supplies electricity to industry and is set to play an important role in efforts to move away from coal. In her policy paper "Terrorism, Cryptocurrencies and the EU Response", written under the project Think Visegrad in Brussels, Asya Metodieva, a research fellow at the Institute of International Relations Prague, writes about what terrorists use cryptocurrencies for, assesses ongoing regulatory initiatives at the EU level, and last but not least, examines how the Visegrad Four (V4) countries view cryptocurrencies in relation to terrorism-related threats at the level of national level.

A new government will lead the Czech Republic after the recent elections. It will have to face domestic challenges such as high inflation and rapidly growing national debt, the transition to a low-carbon economy and the issue of affordable housing. At the same time, however, the Czech government will also face many important issues with European implications.
