Budoucnost aut s výfukem hýbe Evropou. Český ministr dopravy Martin Kupka (ODS) proto vyrazil do Štrasburku, kde jednal o prosazování „realistických“ pravidel. Zčásti má pravdu. V boji za syntentická paliva, který rozjeli Němci, je ovšem realismus jednoznačně na straně návrhu, který je dávno na stole. A jehož budoucnost teď Kupka a spol. ohrožují. Relatively unnoticed, in August of last year, the Congress of the United States of America voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This decision may be one of the most important steps in the fight against climate change this decade. Inflation Reduction Act is a massive investment package that can fundamentally affect the current approach of Europe and other countries to green transformation. The transition to clean technologies, research, development, and production, can no longer be perceived purely as a question of reducing emissions, but also as a question of maintaining competitiveness on the global market. The green race has started and the Czech Republic should step up.

Poměrně bez povšimnutí odhlasoval v srpnu loňského roku Kongres Spojených států amerických přijetí Zákona na snížení inflace neboli Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Toto rozhodnutí může být jedním z nejdůležitějších kroků v boji proti klimatické změně v této dekádě. Jedná se o masivní investiční balíček, který může zásadně ovlivnit dosavadní přístup Evropy a dalších zemí k zelené transformaci. Přechod na čisté technologie, jejich výzkum, vývoj i výroba, už nemůžou být vnímány čistě jako otázka snižování emisí, ale i jako otázka udržení konkurenceschopnosti na globálním trhu. Zelený závod začal a Česká republika by měla zbystřit.
