RTVS: Slovenia will have a new president. What decided the victory of Natasha Pirc Musar?

Nataša Pirc Musar won Sunday's second round of the presidential election, receiving 54% of the votes. She defeated her rival, former Foreign Minister Andrej Logar. Musar will replace current president Borut Pahor, who has been unable to run for two terms. Our analyst Žiga Faktor, head of the Brussels office, also commented on the situation.

Our Senior Research Fellow Vít Havelka commented for the E15 website on the issue of tourist visas and their restrictions for Russians. At a summit in Prague on Wednesday, EU foreign ministers agreed on a compromise regarding the ban on issuing tourist visas to citizens of the Russian Federation.

Our senior researcher Jana Juzová wrote an article for VISEGRAD/INSIGHT on "The Czech Republic and Slovakia in the lead". Since July, the Czech Republic has held the presidency of the EU Council and Slovakia the presidency of the Visegrad Four. Although the V4 is now in the shadow of Czech and Slovak foreign policy, this does not mean that it is less important or that it is falling apart. However, the V4 crisis triggered by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may be an opportunity for the Czech Republic and Slovakia to determine the direction of the Visegrad Four.
