Decarbonization of the Czech automotive industry

After the successful delivery of last year’s project focused on the decarbonization of the Czech automotive industry, the climate team of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy leads its second round. This time, the project aims to use already acquired knowledge, contacts and resources to help create a conducive environment for discussion between the representatives of the industry and the public sector. It will also contribute to our understanding of the decarbonization pathways through evidence-based research. Lastly, the project aims to raise social awareness about the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition of the automotive industry by organizing events and media briefings. This year’s project will be shaped by the Czech Presidency of the European Council in the second half of the year.

Policy Paper: Time to Redefine the Terms and Conditions of the Transatlantic Relationship? – 2021 Transatlantic Policy Forum in Review

On November 18-19, 2021, the fourth edition of the Transatlantic Policy Forum took place. It was hosted by EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy in partnership with the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the International Republican Institute (IRI), supported by the International Visegrad Fund, Friedrich Naumann Foundation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The aim of this Policy Paper is to provide a summary and analysis of the discussions that took place, while respecting the Chatham House rule and thus preserving the anonymity of the participants. This analysis aims to highlight and elaborate on the main findings of the participants.

Policy Paper: Terrorism, Cryptocurrencies and the EU Response

In her policy paper "Terrorism, Cryptocurrencies and the EU Response", written under the project Think Visegrad in Brussels, Asya Metodieva, a research fellow at the Institute of International Relations Prague, writes about what terrorists use cryptocurrencies for, assesses ongoing regulatory initiatives at the EU level, and last but not least, examines how the Visegrad Four (V4) countries view cryptocurrencies in relation to terrorism-related threats at the level of national level.

Policy Paper: Topics: Czech 2022 Presidency to the Council of the EU

In his policy paper, our research fellow Vít Havelka provides an overview of the current stage of preparations for the Czech Presidency and specifically elaborates on what topics the Czech Republic could choose as its priorities. Methodologically, the paper is divided into three separate parts, corresponding to three different levels of the program structure: political priorities, triadic priorities, and public service priorities.

Náš výzkumný pracovník Vít Havelka se ve svém policy paperu snaží poskytnout přehled o tom, v jaké fázi příprav na předsednictví se Česká republika v současné době nachází, a konkrétně rozvádí, jaká témata by si Česko mohlo zvolit jako své priority. Metodologicky je článek rozdělen do tří samostatných částí, které odpovídají třem různým úrovním programové struktury: politické priority, priority na úrovni trojice a priority na úrovni veřejných služeb.

Decarbonization of the automotive industry

The project called Decarbonization of the automotive industry aims to enable fast and fair decarbonization of the automotive industry in the Czech Republic by bridging the gap between policy- and decision-makers and companies. The key networking activities rely on evidence-based research outputs and follow-up activities with the respective stakeholders of the automotive industry in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the project aims to deepen the public understanding and social acceptance of the inevitable changes in the transport sector. The project is led by the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy with financial support from the European Climate Foundation.
