Director of the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy Vladimír Bartovic was a guest at today’s broadcast of Rádio Slovensko, where he commented on the decision made by the Slovak government led by Igor Matovič regarding the purchase of Russian vaccine Sputnik V. Vaccines, which are currently being used in the EU are properly registered, whereas the Russian one is not. Nevertheless, opinions on the vaccine differs broadly.

The cabinet of the new Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has gained confidence in the Senate. The government is still awaiting a vote in the Chamber of Deputies. The cabinet of the former head of the European Central Bank is also expected to succeed there. Alexandr Lagazzi, a research associate of the Europeum Institute, told more about this topic for Slovak television TA3.

On December 15, the very last debate of 2020 from the series EU± took place. The debate was organized by the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy and the Department of European Studies of FSV UK. The topic of „Portuguese and Czech Presidency of the EU Council” was discussed by Ambassador of Portugal to the Czech Republic Luís de Almeida Sampaio, our Associate Research Fellow Zuzana Stuchlíková and former Permanent Representative to the EU Milena Vicenová. The debate took place in English and was charied by Tomáš Weiss, researcher, and head of the Department of European Studies FSV UK.
