ČT24: Preparations for the Czech EU Presidency

Vít Havelka, a research fellow at the Europeum Institute, spoke on ČT24's Studia programme about preparations for the Czech EU Presidency, which begins in July. Havelka's main focus is on the change in the role of the presidency from 2009. Now it is mainly about negotiating new European legislation than it was before. Furthermore, he also presented the direction of the Czech Republic in the legislative process and mentioned political priorities, where one of the main topics will be the war in Ukraine.

Výzkumný pracovník Institutu Europeum Vít Havelka hovořil v pořadu Studia ČT24 o přípravách na české předsednictví EU, které začíná v červenci. Hlavní důraz Havelka klad na změnu role předsednictví od roku 2009. Nyní se totiž jedná zejména o vyjednávání o nové evropské legislativě, než tomu bylo dříve. Dále také představil směr České republiky v legislativním procesu a zmínil politické priority, kde jedním z hlavních témat bude válka na Ukrajině.

Decarbonization of the Czech automotive industry

After the successful delivery of last year’s project focused on the decarbonization of the Czech automotive industry, the climate team of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy leads its second round. This time, the project aims to use already acquired knowledge, contacts and resources to help create a conducive environment for discussion between the representatives of the industry and the public sector. It will also contribute to our understanding of the decarbonization pathways through evidence-based research. Lastly, the project aims to raise social awareness about the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition of the automotive industry by organizing events and media briefings. This year’s project will be shaped by the Czech Presidency of the European Council in the second half of the year.
