Právo | EU does not want to ban hamsters. It is examining the situation

The information that the European Union intends to ban the keeping of rodents, reptiles or parrots is not true. An expert study on the subject is still under way and it is not yet clear whether any measures will affect ordinary keepers at all. Viktor Daněk, our deputy director, has spoken out against the false news and commented on the topic for the daily Právo.

In her policy paper, our Junior Researcher, Silke Maes, discusses the challenges posed by the increasing digitalization of the economy to tax systems. It highlights the problems of tax avoidance and competition arising from the increasing reliance on intangible assets and the emergence of highly profitable digital business models. The paper focuses on the efforts made at the OECD, EU, and national levels to address these issues.

iDNES.cz: Gas pipeline from Poland, oil pipeline from Italy. Czech Republic to borrow billions for projects

The Czech Republic wants to borrow tens of billions through the National Recovery Plan for projects such as the gas pipeline from Poland or the strengthening of the oil pipeline from Italy. The money will come from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility, which should make the loan profitable. Not all projects have been given the green light by the European Commission. Funding for the Dukovany hot water pipeline has been put on hold. Our Senior Research Fellow Vít Havelka commented on this topic.

Téma kulatého stolu je "Evropské politické společenství a jeho budoucí potenciál". Kulatému stolu jsou předloženy tři hlavní otázky: Jaký potenciál Evropské politické společenství nabízí a jak může doplnit již existující platformy a procesy? V jakých oblastech spolupráce má platforma největší potenciál a na jaké by se měla zaměřovat? Jaký formát a způsob fungování platformy by byl nejpřínosnější pro naplnění jejího účelu?

Discussing Ukraine in V4 mainstream media: The future vis-à-vis European integration

The project assesses the production, distribution and consumption of news on Ukraine’s future vis-a-vis European integration by the V4 mainstream media. The aim is to designate both dominant and marginalized narratives, while also analyzing their impact via focus groups. The findings will be presented to stakeholders in order to improve reporting and increase the audiences’ access to information.
