Podle Olafa Scholze je to v přímém zájmu zemí Sedmadvacítky. 9. května se slaví Den Evropy. 9. května roku 1950 totiž tehdejší francouzský ministr zahraničí Robert Schuman přednesl deklaraci, která se stala základem pro mírovou spolupráci mezi evropskými zeměmi.
