CNN Prima News | EU member states confirm agreement on final migration pact

Representatives of the EU Member States in Brussels confirm their agreement on the final form of the migration package. The Czech Republic reportedly abstained from voting, while Hungary and Poland opposed it. Viktor Daněk, Deputy Director of EUROPEUM Institute, commented on the final form of the migration pact.

From the Czech Republic's point of view, the most important thing is that while solidarity is mandatory in the new migration pact, there is no mechanism that would force a state that does not wish to accept asylum seekers to accept even a single migrant.

Before entering the NGO sphere, Viktor Daněk worked for almost ten years as a journalist. During his time with the public service Czech radio, he focused mainly on covering EU affairs. He spent almost five years as a permanent correspondent in Brussels, where he cooperated with other media outlets.
