In her blog, our intern Leonor Tavares focuses on the new European media freedom act. Independent media as a means of freedom of expression is under threat in some EU member states and is being used for political propaganda or is being shut down altogether. The new law should ensure that public service media provide a plurality of information in an impartial manner, while regulating their funding and the acquisition and protection of journalistic sources.

But the question is whether it will have a significant impact on the European gas market and European independence." However, raw material extraction projects in the EU must be supported.

Euractiv: Czech public broadcaster’s independence threatened ahead of elections

In our Café Evropa debate, Věra Jourová, Vice-President of the European Commission, stated that she is worried about Czech Television. The Brussels portal Euractiv subsequently informed about the situation around the television, whose independence is in jeopardy. The article also informs about the possibility of replacing the director of Czech Television, Petr Dvořák, before the October parliamentary elections.
