We bring you a summary and recommendations resulting from the National Convention on EU Affairs on the topic of the Current health challenges at the European level policy, which took place on March 5 in an online environment and of which our Institute was a professional guarantor.
25. March 2021
Summary and recommendations resulting from the discussion of the round table of the National Convention on the EU held on 5 March 2021 were prepared by Vít Havelka, Vladimír Bartovic, and Zuzana Kasáková.
The Convention dealt with the issue of challenges in the field of healthcare. The topic thus responded to the development in health policy in the last year, which was strongly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular, the following three issues were discussed:
- Should the European Union gain additional powers in the field of public health?
- How should cross-border/transnational cooperation in the field of public health be regulated?
- Should the EU build its own capacity to produce protective equipment and to what extent should it have strategic reserves?
