The European Commission will issue a report on the progress of rapprochement with EU candidate countries. Where do Ukraine or the Western Balkan countries stand? In the Bruselské chlebíčky podcast, the topic was discussed in great detail by Žiga Faktor, Director of the EUROPEUM Institute's Brussels office, and Jana Juzová, our Senior Research Fellow.

Researcher Michal Hrubý prepared a background paper on the Green Agenda in the Western Balkans in the framework of the Think Tank Forum held in the first half of October 2022. In the paper, he discusses the role of the Green Agenda itself and its future. Indeed, the so-called Green Deal is the cornerstone of the EU's climate agenda, and the Western Balkans has declared the importance of this agreement by signing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB) in 2011.

Our researcher Jana Juzová contributed to another series of analyses of four experts answering a question from the field of international politics and economics. This publication examined whether the Western Balkans should participate in the Conference on the Future of Europe.

In her latest policy paper from the Eastern Monitor series, our research fellow Jana Juzová focuses on US President Joe Biden's foreign policy administration in relation to the EU and possible future cooperation in the Western Balkans.

Does the EU and the Commission in particular possess appropriate tools to deal with the ‘complicated’ candidate countries in a complex international reality? Marko Stojić in his new policy paper tackles the question with a comparative analysis of six Western Balkan (potential) candidates for EU membership, based on the qualitative analysis of the EU’s most recent and updated enlargement documents.
