On Thursday 17 October 2024, a conference entitled Circularity in the Czech automotive industry: opportunities and obstacles was held by EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy in cooperation with the Institute for Circular Economy INCIEN. The event was partnered by the Czech Battery Cluster. Filip Křenek, a researcher at EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, participated in one of the organised panel debates.

New cars sold in the EU after 2035 are to have zero tailpipe emissions. It is the electric cars only that meet the zero-emission criterion. The shift to electric vehicles will be what will help the Czech Republic maintain a stable position in the automotive value chain in the long term. Our research fellow Michal Hrubý wrote an article for Hospodářské noviny about the future of electromobility and the automotive industry in the Czech Republic.

Our research fellow Vít Havelka together with Torval Tangeland, Petr Soukup, Nikola Hořejš, and Pål Strandbakken wrote a Policy Paper as a part of the project Green Transformation: Sustainable Consumption and European Single Market policies supported by the Norway Grants in the Czech Republic. In this paper, he compares and identifies knowledge gaps between Czech and Norwegian consumers. He gives an overview of the present situation in both countries, including possible research gaps and describes the unique national contexts and experiences.
