STVR | EU can be the key in maintaining ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

The conflict in the Middle East has further intensified the fighting within the European Union. Some states are on the side of Israel, others on the side of the Palestinian Hamas movement. Brussels was not formally involved in the ceasefire agreement, but the European Union supported the signing of the ceasefire from the start and can play an important role now in implementing the agreement and ensuring that it is respected. Researcher Danielle Piatkiewicz at EUROPEUM Institute commented for Slovakian STVR.

As such, the European Union is a great supporter of Israel. However, there are Member States that have taken a very strong stance against Israel. Some are directly behind it, others are more pro-Palestinian. I think that the European Union will now try to balance its position.
