RTVS | EU Enlargement: Initiation of Accession Negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova

The European Union has initiated accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. What does this mean for its inhabitants? How do the accession talks proceed? And what must the countries fulfill? Jana Juzová, a senior researcher at EUROPEUM Institute, comments for Slovak RTVS Television.

The process of aligning with European legislation and requirements is very complex. These countries must achieve complete alignment with the 33 areas - chapters. At the same time, the most important issues are the rule of law, democratic governance, human rights protection, and other European values. On the other hand, it also includes very technical areas, such as green policy, agriculture, single market issues, etc.
