ČT24 | What can Donald Trump's presidency mean for Europe?

Donald Trump will be sworn in today at the US Capitol, becoming the 47th President of the United States. What could this mean for Europe? Trump has already announced the introduction of tariffs, negotiations on the war in Ukraine or pressure on European allies. Deputy director and head of the Brussels office of EUROPEUM Institute Žiga Faktor commented for Czech TV.

Europe should be slightly worried, but I would not mention any great alarmism, because even with the first administration of Donald Trump it was possible to communicate in some way. Europe will be expected to invest more in its own defence, and especially the Member States, and the guarantee of American defence will only be the last step, so that the European Union would be able to defend itself against various aggressions from the East.
