ČT24 | The future of EU's enlargement

European Commission has recommended in its assessment report for the accession talks with Ukraine, Moldavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to begin. The prime ministers of the bloc's countries will have the final say on the matter at the summit in the middle of December, but uninamous agreement will be needed. Will it be possible to achieve? Our deputy director Viktor Daněk has commented on the issue and further EU's reforms in an interview with the ČT24.

"Let's be honest, it is a political decision and what's happening in the Ukraine right now plays a big role. Russian agression has attracted attention in not only European Commission but also in many member states, and these members realize that if they have countries close to them, which do not have a clear european perspective, that they leave a door wide open for states like Russia to try to drag them into their influence, by fair means or foul - as is the case of Ukraine."
