ČT24: Babiš and Juncker on migration

Vladimir Bartovic commented for ČT 24 on the talks of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis and the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
31. January 2018

According to Andrej Babiš, quotas are a problem and they divide Europe and another solution should be found. With what would have the Czech Republic to come up to say more than just a non-constructive "no"?

We have to separate two levels, one of which is to meet the already approved temporary refugee quotas, where the admission of several families, like Slovakia did, could help to avert the European Commission's action against the Czech Republic. The second plane is a problem of a permanent relocation mechanism, where such a decision would certainly not bring about the solution, because the Czech Republic must come up with another proposal that would be acceptable and would compensate for the unwillingness of the Czech Republic, and some other countries, to accept the permanent relocation mechanism.

Full interview in Czech language is available in ČT's Studio 24 archive [00:00-7:03].
