ČRo | Enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans
Western European countries are not satisfied with promises and smiles, but want to see something concrete. The problem is, however, that for the countries of Western Europe in particular, this is a politically difficult subject, because these countries have found it quite difficult to absorb and are still absorbing the enlargement to include ourselves, countries like the Czech Republic, Poland and the great enlargement of 20 years ago, mainly because of the free movement of people and the competition of the labour market. That was something quite unpopular in some sections of society, and further enlargement to include even more countries to the east or to the south-east, that creates a sense of similar political scuffles and friction.
