In a few days, the elections to the European Parliament will be held, during which Czech voters will choose 21 of their representatives. What was the attendance of the current MPs? And which Czech politicians turned out to be the most influential? EUROPEUM Institute compiled with the help of experts a ranking that tries to evaluate these categories. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of EUROPEUM Institute, introduced it on CNN Prima News.

Assessing the influence of MEPs is very difficult. A quantitative assessment does not capture the true content of their work, i.e. what the MEPs helped to approve and how it actually benefited or did not benefit the Czech Republic. In our ranking, we have therefore approached experts who have daily experience with the work of MEPs and directly observe them. We found that those MPs who are most active in attendance are often also ranked among the most influential. Although this does not necessarily reflect overall activity, it is a broader indicator of how engaged MEPs are.
