I believe that the negotiations will resume, but it is up to President Trump in particular to decide what attitude he will take towards President Zelensky. What we have seen in the Oval Office is indeed a dagger in the back of a country that has long resisted Russian aggression.

The White House meeting shakes up the support the USA has given to Ukraine and casts further uncertainty on how Ukraine will resolve the war, where it has resisted a full-scale Russian invasion and aggression for three years.
Europe should be prepared to take a strong stance, to impose retaliatory tariffs, as it did in Trump's first mandate. Above all, however, it should come to the table prepared to seek the abolition of tariffs. Tariffs themselves do not help anyone and may increase inflation on both sides of the ocean.
