By joining the EU, Czechia has committed itself, among other things, to adopt the common European currency - the euro. However, this commitment is not specified in time. Not only whether Czechia is ready for the introduction of the euro will be another of the Café Evropa debates. The debate will take place on Monday 6.12. from 17:30 online on our Facebook.

Energy prices have been skyrocketing across Europe and the world in recent weeks. In Europe, for example, the price of natural gas has briefly risen by more than 800 per cent. Natural gas is used in many countries for home heating and also supplies electricity to industry and is set to play an important role in efforts to move away from coal. How to deal with rising energy prices is not the only topic of the next Café Evropa debate. The debate will take place on Thursday 18.11. at 17:30 online on our Facebook page.

A new government will lead the Czech Republic after the recent elections. It will have to face domestic challenges such as high inflation and rapidly growing national debt, the transition to a low-carbon economy and the issue of affordable housing. At the same time, however, the Czech government will also face many important issues with European implications. The future direction of the Czech Republic within the EU will be another topic of Café Evropa debates.

As part of the fight against climate change and its effects, EU countries have committed themselves to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
