The report "Battery Circularity in the Automotive Industry as an Opportunity for the Czech Republic" addresses key issues in the development of the battery industry in the Czech Republic, with an emphasis on the circular economy, recycling and reuse of batteries. The study, which was produced in cooperation between EUROPEUM think tank and experts in the field of batteries and electromobility, shows that although the Czech market is still lagging behind in the development of battery production and recycling, its potential is huge - from raw material extraction to component production to battery recycling, which would significantly strengthen the resilience and environmental sustainability of the Czech economy.

The Czech Republic can play an important role in the battery supply chain, but without strategic investment and legislative support, we risk losing this opportunity. The battery industry is developing in all the countries around us, but unfortunately in the Czech Republic this high added value sector is still missing. The development of circular approaches would help reduce dependence on raw material imports, increase resource efficiency and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the automotive industry, which will also help strengthen its long-term competitiveness." - Filip Křenek, one of the authors of the report, analyst at EUROPEUM Institute
This report concludes a research project on the circularity of batteries and construction materials in the Czech automotive industry. The project and all related activities were supported by the European Climate Foundation.
