Our Senior Research Fellow Jana Juzová has prepared a summary and recommendations based on the roundtable discussion of the National Convention on the EU held on 26 October 2022 on the topic "Ukraine's Integration into the EU". The Convention produced three recommendations based on the answers to the following questions: How can the EU and the Czech Republic support Ukraine in the post-war reconstruction and reforms necessary for EU integration? What tools does the EU have at its disposal for the deeper economic and political integration of Ukraine? Is the EU ready to fully integrate Ukraine and other candidate countries?

Our research fellow Danielle Piatkiewicz has written a policy paper on "Evaluating Transatlantic Relations in Times of Conflict", in which she discusses issues such as transatlantic security, the new European security architecture, and NATO's renewed purpose. She concludes with further steps on how the transatlantic community can work together in times of conflict.

During the debate these questions were discussed: As tensions with authoritarian powers such as Russia and China amplify, how can the EU and ASEAN partnership remain strong moving forward? Our researcher Michal Hrubý wrote a report from a conference titled E-mobility: An OPPORTUNITY for Central-Eastern Europe, where the challenges and opportunities of e-mobility transition in the region were discussed.

Our research assistant Jonathan Lyons wrote a report from a roundtable titled Decarbonisation as a Cure for Energy Poverty: What next for the Social Climate Fund. It was the 2nd roundtable on the topic of the extended EU carbon markets, this time from the social and just transition viewpoint.

Our project manager and junior researcher Tatiana Mindekova worked on the paper on behalf of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.

On Thursday 8 September 2022, a briefing was held under the leadership of the European Climate Foundation and with the support of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, entitled: "Do we have enough minerals and metals to achieve energy transition and electromobility?". The briefing also produced a short background study on Minerals and Metals for Energy Transition.

Researcher Michal Hrubý prepared a background paper on the Green Agenda in the Western Balkans in the framework of the Think Tank Forum held in the first half of October 2022. In the paper, he discusses the role of the Green Agenda itself and its future. Indeed, the so-called Green Deal is the cornerstone of the EU's climate agenda, and the Western Balkans has declared the importance of this agreement by signing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB) in 2011.

The roundtable is presented with three main questions: how can the EU and the Czech Republic support Ukraine in its post-war reconstruction and reforms necessary for EU integration? What tools does the EU have at its disposal for deeper economic and political integration of Ukraine? Is the EU ready to fully integrate Ukraine and other candidate countries? Can it use the experience of previous enlargement rounds for this purpose?
