Our Research Fellow Michal Hrubý examines the current state of the Czech automotive industry and its possible decarbonisation in connection with emissions. He divides his recommendations into five points - bolster green investments, financial incentives are the change-drivers, boost charging infrastructure, support the corporate BEVs fleet market and a ban on ICEVs is not the solution per se. The policy report was written within the project Decarbonisation of the automotive industry in the Czech Republic.

In the new EU MONITOR, our research fellow Vít Havelka comments on the Conference on the Future of Europe from the perspective of the Czech Republic. He mentions the approach of the Czech government and the public to the policies debated at the Conference.

We bring you a summary and recommendations resulting from the National Convention on the EU on strategic autonomy of the European Union, which took place on May 22 in the online environment and of which our institute is a guarantor.

On May 20th 2021, Think Visegrad Platform organised a closed roundtable entitled “Visegrad perspectives on the "Fit for 55" climate package”. The meeting was conducted online and was held under the Chatham House rules. The debate focused on the Central and Eastern European countries’ perceptions of the EU 2030 climate targets, establishing at least 55% emissions cut compared to 1990 levels, and the challenges the V4 countries will face when implementing this new target.

In the final part of the EUROPEUM series on the Innovation pillar of Horizon Europe, our Associate Research Fellow Katarína Svitková focuses on the European Innovation Council (EIC), officially launched in March 2021.

In another Policy Paper, this time from Lucie Vinařská, who has long been dealing with the Czech Republic's approach to environmental protection in the EU, we present a new climate and energy package called Fit for 55, which aims to virtually reduce emissions to 55% compared to 1990.

Our Associate Research Fellow Katarína Svitková wrote another article in the new EUROPEUM publication series: 2021–2027 Horizon Europe. In her policy brief, Katarína focuses on the revival of the cultural industry after the pandemic.

In her policy paper, our research assistant Rose Hartwig-Peillon addresses the issue of granting citizenship and residency. Hartwig-Peillon calls for a major redesign of the existing programs and for an EU-wide debate on the schemes at the occasion of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Our institute is a guarantee of the National Convention on EU Affairs on the topic of Strategic autonomy of the European Union, which will take place online on Friday 21 May.

Our Associate Research Fellow Katarína Svitková has written the third article of the new publication series EUROPEUM: 2021–2027 Horizon Europe. In her policy brief, Katarína focuses on the issue of education, which, like many other sectors, underwent a fundamental change during the pandemic. She also presents the Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education program.

Our Associate Research Fellow Katarína Svitková has written the second article of the new publication series EUROPEUM: 2021–2027 Horizon Europe. In her policy brief, Katarína presents the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as one of the main components of the Horizon Europe Innovation Pillar and describes its program and objectives.
