Our researcher Vít Havelka has written an Update entitled Czech perception of the EU’s COVID-19 response, in which he develops last year’s preliminary findings with regard to how the Czech society perceived the EU’s reaction to COVID-19 pandemic.

Our researcher Vít Havelka has written an Update entitled Czech Perception of the EU Climate Policy, in which he discusses the Green Deal and brings readers up to date on the latest findings and issues that could arise in the future.

A Policy Paper on transparency and targeting of political advertising in the EU was produced during a study visit to the Brussels office of Think Visegrad. The author of the paper, Karolína Klingová, focuses on the development of information technologies, including social media platforms with the possibility of micro-targeted campaigns, which have rapidly changed the concept of political communication and electoral campaigning.

Ondřej Horký-Hlucháň, Senior Research Fellow from the Institute of International Relations, wrote a project policy paper under the auspices of the Think Visegrad in Brussels titled "Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development: A troubleshooting guide for reluctant EU donors".

The Think-Tank Think Visegrad published a report on the anniversary of the Visegrad Four, its future and its role in the EU. The conference took place on November 22, 2021. Speakers discussed, among other things, the perspectives of the Visegrad countries at the conference and what the future of the Visegrad is.

Peter Stepper, Senior Research Fellow, Head of Euroatlantic Program for Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade wrote a policy paper titled "V4 in Brussels – A reality check of the international perspective on Visegrad cooperation".

In the last Eastern Monitor, Michal Beneš focused on the dynamic conflict between the great powers in the Taiwan Strait. He focused on what might await us in the future. The text doesn't aim to find a solution to this complex conflict but instead presents several possible future scenarios to its readers.

Tatiana Mindeková wrote EU MONITOR about the importance of, often neglected, geothermal energy in the decarbonization process. She explains how geothermal energy works, what its advantages are, and, conversely, what challenges it brings. She also addresses the usage of geothermal energy in the Visegrad countries.

A Policy Brief on the future of natural gas in the European Union was produced during a study visit to the Brussels office of Think Visegrad. The author of the brief, Agata Łoskot-Strachota, focuses on the current market crisis, which has raised questions about the role of gas in the decarbonisation process, as well as the cost and security of supply, and highlights the need for a common gas strategy that is in line with the objectives of the Green Deal, but also responds to short-term challenges.

For the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Žiga Faktor, Director of our Brussels office, and Zuzana Stuchlíková, Research Associate at EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, co-authored an article on the European expectations of the Czech and German governments' European policy.

In the most recent Eastern Monitor Jovana Vančevska focuses on the issues connected to the Brdo Declaration, the progress concerning the "enlargement process" and EU's commitment to it. Who are the frontrunners of the "enlargement process"? And which countries are stagnant? The author gives us more information about this issue in her paper, as well as its' possible outcomes.
