CNN Prima News | MEPs have approved all candidates for the European Commission
MEPs have approved the European Commission. The deadlock, during which individual groups raised objections to some candidates, lasted for more than a week. The new composition of the Commission could therefore be approved next Wednesday. This would allow the Commission to begin its work by December 1. The presence of Kaja Kallas as the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and former Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius as the Commissioner for Defense is expected to result in a stronger stance against Russia. These commissioners from the EU's eastern wing are likely to advocate for stricter measures against Russia and work to convince more Western states to increase their support for Ukraine and invest more in their own security and defense. This direction is anticipated because Russia is undeniably an aggressor, and it is crucial to prepare for Russian aggression and continue supporting Ukraine.
