According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), solar energy is the cheapest source of electricity in the world, but the Czech Republic still lags far behind the European average. "The use of solar energy in the Czech Republic is stagnating, despite the increasing demand for the installation of solar power plants (in 2021, roughly one-fifth more plants were installed year-on-year). Solar and wind power account for only 3.7% of the Czech energy mix, leaving the Czech Republic well behind the European average of 22%. Moreover, last year the share of renewables at EU level surpassed the use of fossil fuel sources for the first time."
