Prague Climate Talks 2017
The debate will analyze the impact of the changing geopolitical situation (following Britain’s vote to exit the EU, Trump’s unpredictable presidency etc.) on the future developments of the Paris Agreement and global efforts to mitigate climate change in general. Will the EU be able (and willing) to become the next frontrunner in international climate action or will China become the new reluctant leader? What will be the new opportunities and what could be the potential pitfalls?
Report je dostupný zde. Podkladový policy paper k debatě: Can EU Leadership on Climate Change Unite the Fragmented Union?
The main objective of this debate will be to assess the EU’s existing and proposed climate policies. It will discuss their efficient features, as well as their weak spots, especially focusing on the limits to their improvement (e.g. internal tensions among member states, lobbying efforts from big corporations etc.) and ways to overcome them.
Report je dostupný zde. Podkladový policy paper k debatě: Rationality of the EU ETS: Holding it Together or Preventing Deeper Changes?
The debate will focus on evaluating the current state of renewable energy use in the V4 countries. It will discuss its main obstacles (political, economic, strategic etc.), the question of subsidies, competitiveness and security of supply, as well as the projections for the future developments of the renewable sector in the region.
