ČT24 | Division into political groups in the European Parliament

The Czech Republic has 21 MEPs in the European Parliament. The ANO movement has the most representatives, followed by the Spolu coalition. In the European Parliament, there were seven groups before this year's elections, but now there will be one more. The European People's Party remains the strongest, followed by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, and the Patriots for Europe. Nejsilnější zůstává Evropská lidová strana, za ní následuje Pokrokové spojenectví socialistů a demokratů a Patrioti pro Evropu. The European Commission has announced that, in light of developments since the beginning of the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union, it plans to boycott informal ministerial meetings and send only senior officials instead of commissioners. Viktor Orbán has come under criticism for his recent trip to Russia, which he described as a peace mission aimed at ending the war in Ukraine and which he did not consult with the leaders of other EU states. Evropská komise oznámila, že vzhledem k vývoji maďarského předsednictví v Radě Evropské unie plánuje bojkotovat neformální jednání ministrů a posílat na ně místo eurokomisařů pouze vysoké úředníky. Viktor Orbán se stal terčem kritiky kvůli své nedávné cestě do Ruska, které označil za mírovou misi s cílem ukončení války na Ukrajině a které s vůdci ostatních států EU nekonzultoval. Ve vysílání Radiožurnálu tento krok komentoval zástupce ředitele Institutu EUROPEUM Viktor Daněk.

Maltese MEP Roberta Metsola from the European People's Party is once again running for the position of president. Barcelona boasts over two hundred climate shelters in publicly accessible institutions like museums, galleries, offices, and libraries, providing drinking water, air conditioning, and informational services. According to Katarína Svitková, an Associate Research Fellow at EUROPEUM Institute, Czechia lacks action plans and responds to heat only at the last minute. Preparedness for tropical days is crucial for protecting the population, especially seniors and young children, for whom summer days are the most demanding.
