TV Nova | What threatens the European Union?

Before the upcoming elections to the European Parliament, a debate was held on TV Nova among the leading figures of the seven main political parties, movements, and coalitions. Important issues such as the migration pact or the conflict in Ukraine were discussed. Martin Vokálek, Director of EUROPEUM Institute, provided an analysis for TV Nova regarding the main threats facing the European Union.

Currently, 53 percent of the Czech population considers Russia, which is waging an aggressive war against Ukraine, to be the greatest international threat to the European Union. This percentage is highest among the younger generation and gradually decreases among older generations, but it always remains the most frequently mentioned threat. One-fifth of the population sees the situation within the European Union as a threat, and one-quarter of the population perceives threats outside the European Union, such as in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in the United States or China's activities.
