We would like to invite you to another debate within the Café Evropa series, this time on the topic "18 years of the Czech Republic in the EU - how has our membership in the European Union grown?". This time the debate will take place in person during Europe Day on Střelecký ostrov in Prague, and will also be streamed on our Facebook page. What are the biggest benefits of the Czech Republic's EU membership? How has the Czech Republic changed since joining the EU and how do you assess its performance in the EU so far? And can the Czech presidency make a major contribution to improving the Czechs' understanding of how the EU works?

ČRo Plus: The elections in Serbia are won by President Aleksandar Vučić and his Serbian Progressive Party. How fair were the elections?
Our research fellow Jana Juzová spoke on Czech Radio Plus about the elections in Serbia, which did not go according to all standards. Various electoral fraud and voter intimidation occurred during the elections. An important factor in the Serbian elections was the situation that preceded it. It was also discussed what the victory of Aleksandar Vučić and his party would mean for the future of the country.

Although the EU is aware of the enormous benefits of AI in the daily lives of European citizens, its current low level of regulation could cause significant problems in the future. That is why, as part of its efforts to strengthen trustworthy AI, the European Commission approved the long-awaited Regulation on an European approach to AI in April 2021. Lidovky.cz: Pirate sailing into the EU ripples domestic waters. Politicians beat their proposal, and the coalition partner does not agree
The director of our institute, Vladimír Bartovic, spoke in favour of the Lidovky.cz website in support of the majority voting system in the Council of the European Union, to which the Pirate Party supported. According to Bartovic, a majority vote would be possible at least on foreign policy issues.

Supporting media freedom in Serbia in relation to the EU accession process
We are delighted to announce the launch of a project focused on support for independent Serbian journalists reporting on Serbia’s EU integration process, its obstacles in the field of democratic governance, and the rule of law and fundamental rights and freedoms, including the freedom of media. The project is supported by the Transition Promotion Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and implemented together with the Centre for Contemporary Politics from Serbia.
