In 2018, President Macron has maintained the very strong rhetoric towards Hungary and Poland, while at the same time striking a very positive tone towards Slovakia and the Czech Republic on his visit to these two countries in October. How do we assess the position President Macron is taking towards Visegrad group countries and his desire to frame the elections as a debate between progressives and anti-Europeans? How is this cleavage received and perceived in Central Europe, and will it help the President build momentum for his proposed reforms in the region? Where do V4 countries stand in regards to their domestic debates regarding the elections, and can President Macron’s rhetoric help consolidate a group of like-minded partners in the Parliament, even if they are not from the same party? Are we able to otherwise identify policy issues that can provide the basis of common platform for the V4 and France? Are there some issues that resonate more strongly for specific V4 states? Where do differences exist, and can they be reconciled?

The event will be held in english language. You can register at bit.ly/V4FrancePrague or contact us via europeum@europeum.org.

The event is also available on Facebook.

We are looking forward to your participation!
